Tigers add Kewin to men's hockey line-up

(Halifax, NS) – Dalhousie Tigers men's hockey head coach, Pete Belliveau is pleased to announce that Shea Kewin, a centre/right winger with three years of experience in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) and a year in the QMJHL, will be joining the black and gold line up for the 2009-10 season.

A native of Guelph, ON, Kewin split his time in the OHL with the Ottawa 67's then with the Oshawa Generals, where he broke his leg in the 2008-09 playoffs. After healing from his injury, he headed to the QMJHL to play for the Saint John Sea Dogs. With 191 games of OHL experience, including 21 playoff games, he has plenty of top quality hockey experience to bring to the Tiger team. Kewin scored 20 points in 29 games with the Saint John Sea Dogs, including 12 goals. The Sea Dogs finished third this past season in the Atlantic Division of the Q, behind Moncton and Cape Breton. They were stopped short of the quarterfinals by the Screaming Eagles.

Shea is very eager to head to Halifax to become part of the Tigers, "I know that university hockey on the east coast is very strong so I'm extremely excited to come to Dalhousie to play. I had a visit at the school and got to meet the guys, the team staff and a lot of the people and staff that are involved in the program and that’s what made my decision. Everyone was very welcoming, helpful and very positive and I feel really great about my decision to come to Dalhousie."

Tigers' head coach Pete Belliveau is very pleased with the acquisition, "We are very happy in adding Shea to our hockey program; Shea brings grit, toughness and good finish to our team and he will make the Dalhousie Tigers a tougher team to play against."
